About This Program

Veteran-aware medical care

Doctors On Site provides specialised care for Canadian Armed Forces veterans — including rehabilitation programs, mental health support, chronic pain management, sleep disorders, and coordination with VAC (Veterans Affairs Canada) for benefits and services.

Service-related health concerns deserve providers who understand them. Our program is designed for veterans — physicians who recognise the patterns, the language, and the systems involved.

The transition out of service can leave veterans navigating health concerns the civilian system is not always equipped to address efficiently. Our program is designed to deliver veteran-aware care, recognise service-related conditions, and coordinate appropriately with VAC and rehabilitation networks.

Our Process

How your program works

A clear pathway designed around the realities of veteran care.

1

Initial Intake & Service History

Complete intake including service branch, deployment history (if you wish to share), VAC status, and current concerns. Confidential — your service details stay between you and your physician.

2

Records & VAC Coordination

If you have an existing VAC case, we will obtain records (with your consent). For new VAC applications, we can complete required physician reports.

3

Comprehensive Consultation

A virtual consult to address your concerns in depth. We allocate longer first appointments for veterans to allow proper history-taking and treatment planning.

4

Treatment Plan & Referrals

Prescriptions, referrals to specialists (mental health, pain clinics, sleep medicine), VAC paperwork, and rehabilitation coordination.

5

Ongoing Continuity

Regular follow-up with the same physician — recognising that veteran care benefits enormously from a stable provider relationship over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Veterans services FAQ

Common questions from CAF veterans.

No. Any current or former CAF member is welcome — whether or not you have a VAC case open. Many veterans use our program for general medical care without any VAC involvement.
Yes. We can complete the physician portions of VAC disability application forms, document service-related conditions, and provide medical opinions for VAC adjudication. We work alongside Veterans Affairs case managers and OSI clinics where they are involved.
Physician consultations are billable to OHIP for Ontario residents. Some VAC paperwork is reimbursed by VAC; otherwise it is OHIP-covered. We will let you know in advance of any potential out-of-pocket costs.
Virtual care is well-supported as a delivery mode for PTSD treatment, including cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure, and EMDR (sometimes via specialist referral). Your DOS physician will assess and refer to OSI clinic services or trauma specialists where needed.
Yes. Family members of CAF veterans (spouses, dependents) are welcome to use our general programs. Veterans benefit when their families have stable medical care too.
Absolutely not. Many veterans have similar stories — service often means medical concerns get pushed aside for years. Our physicians approach every appointment without judgement and at your pace.
