About This Program

Real medicine for real symptoms

Comprehensive women's health care — menopause and perimenopause management (including HRT), PCOS, hormonal weight gain, contraception consultations, and preventive screening. Physician-led, evidence-based, virtual across Ontario.

Hot flashes, brain fog, sleep loss, weight gain, mood changes — they are not "just part of getting older." They are physiological consequences of hormonal change. And there are evidence-based treatments.

Women's health concerns — particularly around menopause, perimenopause, and hormonal change — are too often dismissed or undertreated. Our program is built on the principle that these are real medical issues with effective, evidence-based treatments.

Treatment Options

HRT & beyond

Modern menopause medicine offers a range of options. The right one depends on your symptoms, history, and preferences:

Micronized Progesterone
Prometrium
Bioidentical, body-identical progesterone. Used for endometrial protection alongside estrogen. Often improves sleep as a bonus.
Bioidentical Progesterone
Vaginal Estrogen
Vagifem, Estring, Estragyn
Low-dose local estrogen for vaginal dryness, painful intimacy, recurrent UTIs. Minimal systemic absorption — safe for most women.
Local Hormone Therapy
Non-Hormonal Options
Veozah, Brisdelle, Effexor
For women who cannot or prefer not to use HRT — newer non-hormonal medications can reduce hot flashes effectively.
Non-Hormonal Therapy
Our Process

How your program works

Designed to take the time and care these conversations deserve.

1

Confidential Intake

Complete a thoughtful intake form online — covering symptoms, history, and what you are hoping to address. Our team reviews within one business day.

2

Lab Work if Needed

Hormones (FSH, estradiol), thyroid, and metabolic panels may be ordered to inform your plan — but for most menopausal women, the diagnosis is clinical.

3

Specialist Consultation

A virtual visit with your DOS physician to discuss your symptoms in depth, review options, and design a plan that fits your life.

4

Prescription & Plan Start

If indicated, prescriptions are sent directly to your pharmacy. Plans are individualised — one size does not fit all.

5

Ongoing Adjustment & Review

HRT often needs fine-tuning over the first few months. Regular virtual check-ins to optimise dose, address side effects, and keep you well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Women's health FAQ

Common questions about our menopause and hormonal health program.

For most healthy women starting within 10 years of menopause and under 60, the benefits of HRT outweigh the risks. The 2002 WHI study (which scared a generation off HRT) has been substantially reinterpreted — modern transdermal regimens carry less risk than older oral combinations. Your physician will discuss your individual risk-benefit profile.
Often, no. Menopause is a clinical diagnosis based on symptoms and timing. Labs (FSH, estradiol) can sometimes help in perimenopause or with younger women, but they rarely change the treatment plan in classic menopausal symptoms.
Most modern HRT (estradiol patches, micronized progesterone) IS bioidentical — meaning the molecule is identical to what your body naturally makes. Compounded "bioidenticals" from boutique pharmacies are different and not regulated to the same standards. Your DOS physician will discuss what is right for you.
There is no firm "stop date." Many women stay on HRT for as long as the benefits outweigh risks — sometimes 5 years, sometimes 15+. The decision is reviewed regularly with your physician.
Yes. PCOS-driven weight gain is a metabolic problem, and we can combine PCOS-specific therapy (metformin, lifestyle, hormonal regulation) with our weight management program if appropriate.
Yes. Whether you are looking to switch pills, transition off contraception, or move to an IUD/IUS (we will refer you for insertion), we can guide that decision and provide prescriptions.
