Estradiol is a form of estrogen used in menopausal hormone therapy to help manage symptoms such as hot flashes and other changes associated with menopause. In menopausal hormone therapy it is used to help relieve symptoms related to declining estrogen, such as hot flashes and night sweats. It is available in several forms, including tablets, patches and gels, by prescription only. When the uterus is present, estrogen is usually combined with a progestogen for endometrial protection, and a licensed physician will tailor therapy to your needs.
